As The Regular Reader (thank you, Mother) of these Posts will remember, this time last year we proudly announced our acquisition of an olive press – OK, OK, technically, an olive mill, with centrifuge attached. For years we have had a little olive grove, but up until now my amateurish attempts to crush the fruit yielded only unappetising green slime. Now all that has changed.
300Kg of olives yielded 35 litres of oil. Not exactly a commercial quantity, but the oil we got is awfully nice. Free bottle to certified extra-virgins and people we like.
